A Visit to Kandy by Haris Hulugalle

Kandy is by far, the most pleasant city in Sri Lanka(Ceylon}. The city itself is overcrowded with a multitude of people, hustling, and jostling their way around shops and market place.

I myself stayed at my Club, which was originally built by the British nearly a hundred years ago. It has a beautiful view of the lake below and the Buddhist temple in which a tooth of The Buddha is enshrined.

Kandy and its environs, including the Peradeniya botanical gardens are ideal for photography. It has such variety.

The people I met at my club were far more relaxed than those in club in Colombo. I would think that the reason is that they face far less of the heat, dust the exhaust fumes from vehicles and the stress which enshrouds Colombo.

I look forward to my return as soon as possible. I shall display some photographs as soon as they are developed and printed.
